| RULES / REGULATIONS:
Adhere to the Sempai / Kohai (senior / junior) relationship at all times while a member of the IKO. Avoid addressing a Sempei or Sensei by their first name while in the dojo. (Outside of class it is fine though)
No shoes are to be worn in the training area of the dojo at anytime.
Do not horseplay or fool around in the dojo at anytime.
No cursing in any part of the dojo at anytime.
Do not use any equipment (makiwara, shields, weapons, etc.) that you have not received (kyokushin) training on or been specifically told you may use.
Never remove anything that is not yours from the dojo, especially our training equipment.
Never correct a senior student. (this goes for all grades, for example, a white belt should not advise a blue belt on technique. If you have issue with something that is going on, speak to a black belt privately)
Report all injuries immediately.
If you are caught disrespecting another student (senior or junior) you will be asked to leave immediately.
If you become out of control during kumite and injure another student your conduct will be reviewed by the black belts and you may be asked not to train anymore. Injuries are a part of Kyokushin but should be caused by accidents, not anger or lack of control. White and blue belts especially need to be careful of this as they tend to have less control then students with more experience.
Keep your drama outside the dojo, it will only hinder your training. If you have a problem with another student (which happens with groups larger then 2 people) speak to a black belt or try and resolve the issue yourself.
ETIQUETTE:
Always Rei & Osu to Sensei and seniors upon first meeting of the day.
Always rise when Sensei enters any area.

(unless it's an emergency)
Never walk onto the training floor if Sensei and / or Sempais are training. Wait until you are told it is okay.

If you see something dirty or something that needs attention, clean it or notify a senior.

When you are told to line-up or move to another location of the dojo, do it as fast as possible. (RUN!)
If you are asked a question by Sensei or a senior always rei and stand at
attention (yoi) until dismissed.
When speaking to a black belt or receiving instruction from a senior student always stand in yoi-dachi (ready stance).
If you are called upon in class to come to the front of the dojo and assist Sensei do it quickly and with honor. Avoid flinching or pulling away as it might result in injury.
Senior rank will give the order to line-up approximately 1 minute before the start of class. Remain standing in yoi-dachi until Sensei
presents himself (no matter how long).

SPIRIT:
Support your dojo, get involved with various programs, events and activities (newsletter, committees, camps, trips, etc.)
Support your dojo by purchasing the various items that are sold (tee shirts, bags, videos, supplements, etc.). It helps keep training costs low.
Excuses...there are none!
GEIKO:
How often you train will determine the rate of progression, both physically and advancement in rank. it is recommended that you attend class three (3) times per week.
Instructing lower belts is part of the training process. If you do not like it, tough. Upper belts should expect to be paired up with new students or white belts during class. It is an honor to be asked to assist in a lower belts training.
NEVER ASK TO BE TAUGHT A KATA. You get one warning for this and then it will be a long time before you receive a new kata if you ask again. This includes outside of the dojo. Only a black belt, unless otherwise directed by Sensei, can give you a new kata. Do not learn advanced kata's from a fellow student outside of class. During kata practice, keep doing the highest kata you know when other's begin doing katas you don't know. Once you are given a new kata you will be expected to know it. (Its okay to ask for help from a senior student if you cannot remember certain parts)
Everyone should always strive to give 100% of themselves in every class.
However, if you are reaching your physical limit in class do not push above it. This may only cause injury, resulting in a set-back in your training. If you have an injury that limits your participation, please advise a senior. Remember, lower belts are not expected to keep up with seniors, nor should you even try. This
also goes for those students who are older and wiser than others.
DO ONLY WHAT YOU CAN.
Upper belts should set an example for the lower belts by adhering to the rules of the dojo. However, it is not your job to punish or ridicule a lower belt for breaking them, simply inform or remind them of the rule.
DOJO (Training Hall):
Always say "OSU" twice in succession, upon entering the dojo and before
leaving. Dojo means: a cherished place of learning. Respect it and appreciate the fact that you have a place to train and that you are a member of the largest and strongest karate organization in the world.
Every student must take part in cleaning the dojo after each training session. (Mostly putting bags and pads away, Sensei should NOT have to do this)
This part of training is even more important than the techniques you perform. (Do not get a drink or start to change clothes until the entire dojo is finished)
Respect for the dojo includes the dressing rooms and bathrooms as well.
Do not leave any personal items including dogis in the dojo after closing.
DOGI (Training Uniform):
Your dogi is a piece of your training equipment, without it you could not train. It is to be treated with respect and rolled after each training session. It should always be clean and presentable upon entry to the dojo. No one (except children being picked up by parents) should wear any part of the dogi in public.
Affix patches to the dogi immediately after receiving them.
OBI (belt):
The obi is also part of your uniform and should be respected.
Never wash the obi, air it out after class.
If your obi comes untied during training stop and retie (always face the rear of the dojo).
Never let your obi drop to the floor.
Special training events may require you to wear only the dogi pants w/ obi and a tee shirt.
Never wear the dogi (top / bottom) without the obi.
